Our next adventure has been reviewing and practicing our Reading Streets lessons with Kahoot. Kahoot is a game-based response system. I enter questions into a quiz format into www.getkahoot.com. When I am finished creating the quiz, I get a code. The students go to Kahoot.it and enter the code. The site asks for the children to enter their name, so we talk about not giving out personal information. The students then enter their initials and wait to see their initials pop on the screen. They watch the quiz (I project my ipad) and they enter their responses into their iPad Mini. As the responses come in, the children are cheering and clapping for the correct responses (students who enter correct or incorrect responses are not identified). It is a riot to see them get so excited. We are basically reviewing the same multiple choice reading test that they take on paper each week and this simple adjustment makes it exciting, motivating, and a great way to practice important skills.
